Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

For the Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 garlic cloves, minced
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Optional

  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup baby spinach
  • ¼ tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions

1. Season the Chicken

Pat the chicken breasts dry. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, paprika, and Italian seasoning.

2. Sear the Chicken

Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove the chicken and set aside.

3. Make the Garlic Butter Sauce

Reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 30–60 seconds until fragrant.

If using mushrooms, add them now and cook for 3–4 minutes.

4. Make It Creamy

Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up the flavorful browned bits from the bottom of the pan.

Add heavy cream, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, paprika, and red pepper flakes. Stir well and simmer for 2–3 minutes.

5. Add the Chicken

Return the chicken breasts to the skillet and spoon the creamy garlic butter sauce over them.

Sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.

6. Bake

Transfer the skillet to a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven and bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).

7. Garnish & Serve

Sprinkle with fresh parsley and spoon plenty of the garlic butter sauce over each chicken breast.

Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, roasted vegetables, or crusty garlic bread.

🔥 Pro Tips

  • Pound thick chicken breasts to an even thickness so they cook evenly.
  • Don’t burn the garlic—it can turn bitter quickly.
  • Freshly grated Parmesan melts better into the sauce.
  • Let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • For extra flavor, add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice right before serving.

Q&A

Q: How long do leftovers last?
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
